Project Runway Season 6 Episode 3 Review

(photos courtest of mylifetime.com & style.com)
Frankly the whole "surf themed challenge" was so typical. I mean, really? Surfing in California..who knew. Max Azria was sitting in for Michael Kors. Rachel Bilson was the guest judge. For what reason? I don't know. She didn't say much besides "I'm 5'2, haha!" Besides creating a California surf look, Tim dropped the bizzomb that the designers, who were working in teams of two by the way, would have to create an avant garde look to go along with their original design. Honestly, I saw no surf gear, nothing that you would necessarily even wear to a beach. I don't understand why the challenge was to create a "surf themed look" if you couldn't wear anything to go surfing... Anyway, lets get down to business; Qrystal and Epperson. The only thing I got out of watching the two of them is the fact that Epperson is a pain in the ass and Qrystal should've sewn his mouth shut or stuffed his dreadlocks in it. Johnny and Irina did alright. I thought their brown avant garde dress was hideous but apparently Max Azria would like to debate me on that. Mitchell and Ra'mon, Mitchell didn't do anything, shocker. He should've went home on the first episode. I loved the blue and brown ombre they used for the dress, or should I say Ra'mon used, though I don't see how the dress connotes the "California beach look". Their avant garde look, I thought was hideous. It looked like a cabbage threw up on the side. Shirin & Carol Hannah's looks were great and wearable, as usual. Althea and Louise. I mean it was typical. Their avant garde design looked alot like Balmain. Hmmm. Nicolas and Gordana.. as for the avant garde look I understand where they were trying to go with it but it needed execution tweaks. It could've been amazing. Logan and Christopher, their designs were okay, looked a bit too casual and not very California-esque. Logan seems like a real surf bro so I was expecting more from him. Mitchell got kicked off. Ra'mon won the challenge. That makes Project Runway history. First time ever that one member of the team won the challenge, and the other got the auf Wiedersehen. Good Night!

Your blog is great! I was enjoying catching up on your posts! I too am in total agreement that Mitchell and Ra'mon's avant-garde look was quite hideous (at least in my opinion)!
